Original Article: Advantages and disadvantages on the use of condom in students university: differences sex role
                           
Abstract


Aims: The safest thing to prevent sexually transmitted HIV is through the consistent use of condoms in the sex intercourse. However, still a significant percentage of young people do not use (not systematically used), hence the importance of investigating the factors that are associated with this risk behavior.


Methods: The survey was conducted to 120 university students, 93 women and 27 men, minimum and maximum ages of 18 and 22 years, respectively. The objective of the research is to determine, through a survey, the variables that influence sexual risk behaviors, and therefore, could provide valuable information that would help as preventive strategies.


Results: More than half of the population (63%) gives a lot of reliability to the condom (boys 73.1%, and girls 60.2%). On the other hand, 29.4% consider it quite reliable, and only 7.5% think it is something or nothing reliable. The no side effects has been a major advantage for boys (57.7%) than girls (45.2%). They have also gained significant shares that is easy to use (50% of boys compared to 48.4% of girls) or consider it a hygienic method (46.3% of boys compared to 45.2% of girls).


Conclusions: It is important to note that safe sex is influenced both by individual variables but also interpersonal. Identify and understand what are the advantages and disadvantages that show towards condom use are the first step toward understanding the behavior of youth detention.
